Last updated: 4 October 2026

This Privacy Notice explains how Live TV (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and protects information when you visit livetvuk.com (the “Site”). It is written to align with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

If you have questions about this notice, contact us at info@livetvuk.com or via our Contact page.

1. Who we are

Live TV operates livetvuk.com, a free online service that helps users browse UK and international free-to-air television channels, live stream pages and TV guide listings. For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the controller of personal data processed through the Site.

More publisher details are available on our Company Information page.

2. What this notice covers

This notice applies to:

  • your use of the website and channel / TV guide pages;
  • messages you send through the contact form;
  • cookies, local storage and similar technologies on the Site;
  • advertising and analytics technologies used on the Site (including Google services where enabled).

It does not cover third-party websites, apps or streaming platforms you may reach through external links. Those services have their own privacy notices.

3. Personal data we process

We aim to collect only what is needed to run and secure the Site. Depending on how you use livetvuk.com, we may process:

  • Technical log data - IP address, date/time, requested URL, referrer, browser type, device/OS information and similar server log fields generated automatically when you visit pages.
  • Contact form data - name, email address and message content if you contact us.
  • Cookie / preference data - cookie consent choice, theme preference and similar settings stored in your browser (for example in local storage).
  • Usage and advertising data - page views, approximate location (city/country level where provided by analytics providers), ad interactions and similar measurements when analytics or advertising cookies are active.
  • Player / stream technical data - information needed to start or measure video playback (for example player events and advertising request metadata for video ads).

We do not require you to create an account to watch channels on the Site.

4. Why we use your data

Below is how we use data and the main legal bases under UK GDPR.

  • Provide the website and streams (loading pages, TV guides, player, search) - legitimate interests in running a free TV directory.
  • Security and abuse prevention (logs, rate limits, spam checks on forms) - legitimate interests; legal obligation where applicable.
  • Respond to enquiries (contact form replies) - legitimate interests; steps toward a contract where relevant.
  • Remember preferences (theme mode, cookie consent choice) - legitimate interests / consent for non-essential cookies.
  • Measure audience (Google Analytics where enabled) - consent for non-essential analytics cookies.
  • Show advertising (Google AdSense / Google video ads where enabled) - consent for non-essential advertising cookies.
  • Improve the service (popular channels and page performance) - legitimate interests and/or consent where cookies are used.

Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time through Cookie Settings without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies (including local storage) to make the Site work, remember choices, measure traffic and - where you allow it - support advertising. Full details are in our Cookie Policy. You can manage non-essential cookies on the Cookie Settings page.

6. Advertising and analytics partners

The Site may use Google advertising and analytics technologies, including:

  • Google AdSense / Google Ad Manager style display ads - to fund free access to the Site;
  • Google video advertising (IMA / AdSense for video) - before or around live streams where configured;
  • Google Analytics (gtag / GA4) - to understand aggregated traffic and improve pages.

Google and its partners may process data such as cookie identifiers, IP address, device information and browsing activity according to Google’s policies. See:

Third-party stream, CDN or schedule providers may also receive technical request data needed to deliver video or listings. We do not sell your personal data.

7. Who we share data with

We share personal data only when needed to operate the Site or when the law requires it:

  • hosting, CDN, security and infrastructure providers;
  • analytics and advertising partners (for example Google), subject to your cookie choices where required;
  • professional advisers or authorities if required for legal claims, fraud prevention or regulatory requests;
  • anyone you ask us to share information with when you contact us.

8. International transfers

Some providers (including Google) may process data in the United Kingdom, European Economic Area or other countries. Where data is transferred outside the UK, we expect providers to use appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law (for example standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision).

9. How long we keep data

  • Server logs - kept for a limited period needed for security, diagnostics and abuse prevention, then deleted or anonymised.
  • Contact messages - kept for as long as needed to handle your request and for a reasonable follow-up period, unless a longer retention is required for legal reasons.
  • Cookie / preference data - stored in your browser until you clear it or change your choice.
  • Analytics/advertising identifiers - retained according to the relevant provider’s settings and your consent status.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information transmitted to or stored by the Site. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure; please use a strong unique password on your email account and avoid sending sensitive personal data through the contact form unless necessary.

11. Children’s privacy

The Site is a general-audience live TV directory. It is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the contact form, email info@livetvuk.com and we will delete it where appropriate.

12. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you may have the right to:

  • access your personal data;
  • rectify inaccurate data;
  • erase data in certain circumstances;
  • restrict or object to certain processing;
  • data portability where applicable;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
  • lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

To exercise these rights, contact info@livetvuk.com. We will respond within the time limits required by law.

13. Third-party links and streams

Channel pages may embed or link to streams, players, CDNs or programme information operated by third parties. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Always check the privacy notice of any external service you use.
